9999th
It was actually a week ago, but I overlooked it: picture 9999 shot with our Digital Rebel. No archiving worries, because I rename all pictures on importing. This is something I strongly advise everybody to do. I chose the following convention:
Taco_yyyymmdd_xxxx.ext
‘Taco’ to quickly make all my pictures stand out from pictures that are not mine.
‘yyyymmdd’ is the year, month and day that the picture was taken. In case exif-data ever gets corrupted (actually happened to me a few times), at least I have the shooting date as part of the file-name. Having the day, month and year in reverse order makes all my pictures line up in chronological order when ordered alphabetical.
‘xxxx’ is the id assigned to the picture by the camera. In the Digital Rebel-case a number that starts at 0001 and ends at 9999, before starting all over again.
‘ext’ being the picture format (.raw or .jpg)
This combination assures me that no pictures end up with the same filename (unless I take more than 9999 pictures in a day).
Lots of work? Not really. The Import From Camera Script for Adobe Bridge does the job automatically.
